Clinical Supervision with Dr. Michell Temple, ACS

Are you looking for a clinical supervisor?

I believe that counseling supervision offers counselors the opportunity to slow down and gain insight into themselves, others, and the practice of helping across functional areas.  It serves as a chance for the supervisee to accept responsibility for the role of helper, and the personal implications of claiming that identity as spiritual beings (van Deurzen & Young, 2009; Gingrich & Worthington, 2007). Supervision extends supervisees a safe, nonjudgmental environment to contend with challenges of ethical acculturation (Handelsman, Gottlieb, Knapp, 2005; Harrar et al., 1990). It permits supervisees to explore the lives of counselees from multicultural, including religious, perspectives (Ratts et al., 2016; Ripley, Jackson et al., 2007). The supervision process, when done well, lends itself to cultivating supervisees’ proficiency to journey with counselees through moments in life that are more bearable with a companion (Magnuson et al., 2002; Pearson, 2004; Campbell, 2006).  Supervision gives me and the supervisee moments to sit and be all of themselves, hopeful and anxious, as each strives to help people.  – Dr. Michell Temple, ACS
